MSBA's Business-as-Usual Webcast. ROSS Intelligence

Event Description

WEBINAR: REMOTE PARTICIPATION ONLY

This week, we’re joined by Thomas Hamilton of ROSS Intelligence to talk about AI-enabled legal research. We’ll also talk about more broadly about the risks and benefits associated with the legal profession’s adoption of artificial intelligence to meet a broad diversity of law-related challenges; from making sentencing recommendations to surviving the quarantine.

ROSS is one of MSBA’s newest Advantage Partners. Strictly speaking, ROSS is a competitor of one of MSBA’s most popular resources, Fastcase. Why add ROSS? For the same reason Fastcase recently chose to partner with ROSS. ROSS’s AI expertise and Fastcase’s access to a great depth of legal content means the two companies are well-suited to co-develop new products. The two services offer independent value to user-members. We’ll ask Mr. Hamilton about this new partnership and the independent value of both resources.

NOTE: If you can't join on Zoom, find us at YouTube Live. We monitor chat on both channels.

Speaker Bios:

Thomas Hamilton is the VP Strategic Partnerships at ROSS Intelligence, the company behind ROSS, the world’s first artificially intelligent lawyer. Thomas works with sole practitioners, legal aid groups, law firms and law faculties to put the power of ROSS into their hands.

In his previous life, Thomas worked at the Toronto office of Dentons, where he practiced corporate/commercial law. It was in law school, and later at Dentons, that he began to think about fixing the issues with existing legal research software.

He was the first employee at ROSS Intelligence after the founding team, and believes passionately in the ability of artificial intelligence and legal technology to help lawyers practice law more effectively and more efficiently.

Mike Carlson is Practice Management Advisor for Minnesota State Bar Association. Prior to joining MSBA, Mike practiced in the area of trademark and business with Carlson Bailey and served 10 years as Reference Staff Attorney at Thomson Reuters.

Landon Ascheman is a top-rated criminal defense attorney and owner of Ascheman Law. He focuses primarily on Criminal Defense, representing individuals prosecuted by the State and Federal Government. He spends much of his free time mentoring law students and volunteering in the courts to serve those in need.
