Event Description
Regulatory and
policy changes continue to create a dynamic environment for international
businesses and entrepreneurs. This program seeks to provide an update on
the current strategies that are working and the challenges that remain.
Hear from national speakers flying in from Chicago and Seattle who will discuss
a range of topics including EB-5, E-2s, and L-1s. These are subject matter
experts who handle a large number of cases particularly EB-5 cases for Indians
and E-2s and L-1s for cross-border Canadians but the principles apply to
immigrants worldwide. Hear also from an EB-5 consultant based in
Minneapolis about how the industry and opportunities are evolving and how she
partners with attorneys on projects on behalf of clients. The program is
scheduled for November 22, just one day after the new rules for EB-5 take
effect. The new EB-5 rules –
- Raise the
minimum investment amounts;
- Revise the
standards for certain targeted employment area (TEA)
designations;
- Giving the
agency responsibility for directly managing TEA
designations;
- Clarify
USCIS procedures for the removal of conditions on permanent residence;
and
- Allow EB-5
petitioners to retain their priority date under certain
circumstances.
If you
represent entrepreneurs, high net-worth individuals, physicians, franchisors,
real estate developers, or clients with international and/or cross-border
business operations, the program speakers will provide useful updates on these
highly technical areas. Hear also about changes and challenges for
investors at U.S. consulates worldwide, as well increasingly aggressive tactics
by U.S. Customs at the airports.
Light
breakfast will be provided.
