section members are encouraged to attend.

This presentation will briefly survey a
number of recent legal developments and big stories that relate to intellectual
property. Some of the topics covered will be:
-The impact of Europe’s new
copyright rights on the Internet;
-Updated Patent Office guidance on subject
matter eligibility;
-Recent court decisions related to AIA Post-Grant
Proceedings for patents;
-New requirements to register copyrights before
bringing suit (Fourth Estate);
-Willful infringement after In re Seagate and
Halo;
-The “On Sale” Bar in the post-AIA world (Helsinn Healthcare S.A. v.
Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc.);
-“Patent Troll” activities in light of AIA
and recent venue decisions;
-Implications of 3D printing on IP laws;
and
-The application of copyright law to Fortnite
dances.
