Deadline to Register: April 8, 2019 (by 10:00 AM)
The Tech Law Section Council will
meet at 11:30 am, followed by lunch and the CLE at noon.
U.S privacy law is changing. Since the passage of the California Consumer Privacy Act
of 2018 (CCPA), a litany of state privacy laws have been introduced
and suggestions for preemptive federal legislation have come onto the scene. To help
navigate the ever-shifting privacy landscape, Chair of the
Cybersecurity, Privacy & Social Media Practice Group at Dorsey & Whitney, Jamie
Nafziger, will provide updates on important federal and
state privacy developments, synthesizing
the current state of the law. To the extent the
CCPA and other proposals obligate reasonable security programs (and severely punish the lack
thereof), Sean Harrington will discuss the contours of reasonable security. We
look forward to a lively discussion.
