Constitutional Litigation- A History and Overview of 42 U.S.C. Section 1983

Bradford Colbert and Andrew Wolf will explore the evolution of Constitutional litigation under one of the central statutes of United States civil rights law; 42 U.S.C. Section 1983. They will provide a history of 42 U.S.C. Section 1983, and introduce the legal elements at issue in a Section 1983 action. They will also examine the claims, defenses, and substantive constitutional issues that commonly arise when bringing or defending a claim under 42 U.S.C. Section 1983.

This CLE presentation is a part of the Capitol CLE Series for Local and State Government and Judicial Attorneys. Designed for Minnesota state agency and judicial attorneys, the Capitol CLE series features programs on a variety of topics, including data practices, administrative law issues, ethics and elimination of bias.
