Deadline to Register: January 8,
2019
It is fascinating to watch a building go
up, but the physical piece is only the tip of the iceberg. Lawyers fill a
myriad of roles in the process in order to mitigate various legal risks,
including; planning, purchasing, financing, risk management, labor relations,
and contracting well before the first shovel goes in the ground as well as
during the construction. Of course, when things go wrong, lawyers are
needed to help create, negotiate, and litigate solutions. Many of these roles are provided in private
practice, but many are in-house positions with contractors, labor unions,
bonding and insurance companies, architectural and engineering firms,
developers, and financial institutions as wells as local, state and federal
governments. In this CLE, the
panel will touch on many of the responsibilities, challenges, and rewards of
practicing in this dynamic field of law.
After the CLE presentation, the New Lawyers
Section is hosting a social so you can enjoy hors d'oeuvres,
engaged networking, and a drink. This is a great opportunity for law students and new attorneys
to meet each other, as well some attorneys practicing in Construction law.
For those already practicing in Construction law, this would be
a great opportunity to meet up and coming
attorneys interested in the field. Registration is free for all
New Lawyers and Construction Law Section members and includes drinks and
complimentary hors d’oeuvres. We hope to see you there!
