CLE: "Solo: A Law Practice Story"
Join an adventure into the solo attorney
world and hear from two attorneys who have made the jump to light speed (and,
perhaps, escaped the Empire). Told in the spirit of the recent movie “Solo: A
Star Wars Story,” attorneys John Meyer and Bethany Danner hope to provide some
insight for those who may be thinking of starting their own law firm or solo
practice, including why going solo is great (but maybe not so great for
everyone). John and Bethany will discuss why they made the choice to go solo
(are there more choices than just Rebel or Empire?), what they have learned
along the way (what the heck is a parsec, anyway?), what tools are available for
starting a law practice (blaster or lightsaber?), and how to focus your
networking efforts (does a Wookie really make a good copilot?)
NLS Section
Meeting:
The New Lawyers Section (NLS) will host a very brief 15
minute Section meeting immediately after the CLE. This is your chance to get
involved with the NLS Section Council and learn about volunteer opportunities
for the coming year.
Social for Solo & Small Firm and NLS:
Do you have interest in learning more
about having a solo practice or being part of a small firm? Are you already a
solo practitioner interested in hearing about someone else's experience?
This Social will give New Lawyers the opportunity to make contacts with
attorneys already practicing in a solo or small firm setting so that they can
hear tips and tricks that may shape the future of their own practice. Solo &
Small Firm Section members will get the opportunity to provide mentorship and
real world advice to up and coming attorneys as well as mingle with colleagues.
Appetizers and drinks provided at no cost.
