Description:
The phrase
“implicit bias” is used frequently, but what exactly does it mean? Through
examples, including optical illusions and group exercises, this presentation
showcases the ways in which we can exercise bias without even realizing it;
shares the latest research regarding its impact on the legal profession
(including the reasons people hire us); and discusses ways to combat its effect.

Presenter
Sybil Dunlop is a partner at Greene Espel PLLP who serves clients in both the
public and private sectors. She is also a legal columnist and national speaker
on legal issues, including implicit bias. Prior to joining Greene Espel she
clerked for United States District Court Judge James M. Rosenbaum and attended
Vanderbilt University Law School where she graduated Order of the
Coif.
