Taxpayer Rights Advocate Sarah Bronson will discuss 2018 Minnesota tax legislation and
provide an update on Department of Revenue activities, audits, enforcement actions, initiatives,
personnel changes, and other items of interest to the tax
community.
Professor Morgan Holcomb will discuss strategies for working with law
students and millennial tax lawyers.
John Schmittdiel will provide an IRS Counsel update.
Michael Goodwin will discuss recent Minnesota tax litigation.
Shirley Sicilian from KPMG’s national office will provide a
nexus update, analyzing whether Wayfair will kill (or has killed?)
Quill’s physical presence requirement.
The Honorable Judge Turner will discuss current issues affecting the
Minnesota Tax Court.
The Seminar will be followed by a presentation of the Distinguished Service
Award and will conclude with a one-hour cocktail party (hosted bar and
complimentary hors d'oeuvres).
Notice of Annual Meeting: The Tax Section will also hold its Annual Meeting at 2PM to elect
officers and council members for the 2018-2019 bar year and to conduct other business as
needed. The Annual meeting will also be held at the DoubleTree Hotel (you
will be directed to a conference room when you arrive).
