Deadline to Register: June 5, 2017
It is the rare individual who starts law school intending to become an employee benefits attorney.
A challenge for the employee benefits practice is to raise awareness
about the practice in general. This session will look at increasing
attorney diversity and employment opportunities in the area of employee
benefits and why that is so important. Val Jensen, Executive
Director of Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, will
start the discussion focusing on outreach to diverse groups and a
panel with representatives from Minnesota’s three law schools will discuss opportunities to both
connect with law students and to build a pipeline of potential
employee benefit attorneys, especially diverse candidates. Moderators
will then open the session for audience questions and further discussion among the
panelists.
The Section will also hold their annual
meeting and elect new officers for 2017-18 during the first 10-15 minutes of the
meeting.
Lunch and registration will begin at 11:45 a.m. The program will begin at approximately 12:00 p.m.
