Dr. Matier’s presentation is designed for
the public attorney audience to do the following:
1) Recognize how unconscious bias
develops;
2) Understand how our person experiences influence our professional
behaviors;
3)
Investigate how bias can create systemic patterns in our
legal system.
The program will focus on identifying
areas of a public attorney’s work where bias can be most prevalent,
identifying patterns of thinking that create systemic bias and investigating ways
to eliminate bias in the a public attorney’s work whether the attorney is
serving as an advocate or acting in the administration of justice.
Lunch and registration will begin at 11:45 a.m. The program will begin at
12:00 p.m.

Presenter:
Dr.
Kimberly Matier, Executive Director | West Metro Education Program
Dr. Matier holds a Master’s in Education and a Doctorate
in Philosophy, concentrating on issues of race and cultural competency. Dr. Matier serves on education
equity boards and collaboratives. She has made presentations about race and cultural competency
at national conferences. She supports school districts and other organizations
as they develop equity frameworks for addressing equity and diversity
issues.
