The Hennepin County Bar Association has openings for members interested in serving in volunteer leadership positions beginning in the current 2022-2023 bar year.
- HCBA Board of Directors: Two At-Large Director Vacancies (terms expire 6/30/24).
The HCBA Board of Directors currently has 29 members, including the officers and representatives of various groups within the HCBA and various affiliated and affinity groups. The board meets from noon to 1:30 pm eight times per year, typically on the second Tuesday of the month from September to May. Half of the meetings will be virtual meetings, and half will by hybrid with in-person and virtual attendance options.
- MSBA Council: One HCBA Representative Vacancy (term expires 6/30/23).
The MSBA Council serves as the board of directors of the Minnesota State Bar Association. It is comprised of the four MSBA officers and twelve other members appointed by the Assembly or other affiliated organizations. Representatives of Affinity Bars participate on a rotating schedule. Council members are automatically members of the Assembly. On average, the Council meets ten times during the year. One of these meetings is a half-day retreat where Council members have an opportunity to get to know one another and review the MSBA’s strategic plan. An annual calendar of meetings is prepared at the beginning of each year. Occasionally, the Council may need to meet for a special meeting. Meetings generally last approximately two hours and are scheduled on a weekday and during work hours. Members may participate by Zoom.
- HCBA Finance & Planning Committee: Three At-Large Director Vacancies (terms expire 6/30/24).
The HCBA Finance & Planning Committee consists of 15 members, including officers of the HCBA Board of Directors, five at-large members, three HCBA Board members, and three members appointed by the President-Elect, Treasurer and New Lawyers Section Chair. The committee meets seven times per year from 12:00-1:30pm, typically the first Monday of each month from October through May.
