Parole in Place Keeping Families Together

Event Description

Parole is an exercise of discretionary from the immigration authorities under INA 212(d)(5)(A) to allow certain noncitizen “applicants for admission” to be present in the United States on a temporary basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.  On June 18, 2024, DHS expanded parole in place to “keeping families together” which allows for certain noncitizen spouses and noncitizen stepchildren of U.S. citizens to request parole in place. What is the process for apply for Parole in Place? What crimes disqualify for Parole in Place? What about Orders for Removals?  What if I-601A waiver has already been filed?  What pitfalls should immigration attorneys look out for?
