Hosted by the MSBA New Lawyers Section and
Minnesota Women Lawyers
We may live in a modern society, but women+* entering the
legal profession face a multitude of obstacles to pursue a successful career.
Despite discussions of improving gender equality in the legal profession, the
number of women+ lawyers have only minimally risen in the past decade. Gender
bias continues to present itself at the office but the issues that it creates
are fixable, so long as women+ are equipped with the tools to address it.
Join the MSBA New Lawyers Section and Minnesota
Women Lawyers for candid conversation between women+ about the issues women+ face
inside and outside of the office. Molly Hough, Founder of Juris Consult, will
kick-off the conversation with interactive presentations on the following
topics: (1) I feel like I am floundering - dealing with that feeling of
inadequacy; (2) what expectations should I have and how to advocate for myself;
and (3) the importance of your network and how to build it. Attendees will gain
valuable tools and insight on how to best navigate gender bias related issues in
the legal profession.
After, we will transition to a panel discussion on the
journey towards work-life balance and feeling well-rounded. We curated a unique
group of women with different career paths and roles outside of the workplace to
serve on our panel and provide
their
knowledge and insight on how women+ entering the legal profession can have it
all.
The afternoon will conclude with a reception for attendees to network and
continue the discussion.
*Women+ means this event is a woman-focused event that intends an
inclusive definition of women. We are welcoming and respectful of women,
including trans women and those who are nonbinary, gender non-conforming, and
anyone who identifies as a woman in a way that is significant to them. We also
welcome allies who are committed to creating environments that are supportive of
people who are typically underrepresented in the workplace and beyond.
