Jury Trials and Other Tribulations of COVID-19

Please join the Criminal Law Section for a look at how the resumption of jury trials has been working out and what those participating in the first trial pilots and other contested hearings believe you need to know. We will also look at how hearings have been expanding in counties during July and what to expect in August, and discuss ethical obligations and traps for the unwary under remote hearings and the new limitations at courthouses.

First Hour
What's happening and what's coming: an overview of jury trials across the counties, and how different counties are handling expanded hearing types and proceedings.

Second Hour
Minnesota jury trials have begun. Here's what we've learned. A panel of practitioners who have participated in social distanced jury trial pilots and other contested hearings
in June and July will discuss what you need to know and the challenges posed by these proceedings to the parties involved.
