The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Legal Research with Google

Should you really trust Google for your legal research? In this presentation, we'll consider how to properly situate Google with common legal research tasks. In addition to reviewing search techniques, we'll discuss the risks and rewards of using Google to complete searches, set up alerts, process result sets, review secondary sources, and more. And, we'll consider when it's better to transition to traditional legal research tools .

Presenter:

Mike Carlson, Attorney Editor, MSBA. Mike served 10 years at Thomson Reuters as a Reference Staff Attorney where he performed legal research, analyzed feedback, and provided trainings. Mike now serves the online services team at the Minnesota State Bar Association.
