Immigration Implications in the Family Law Context - Forms of Relief Available to Clients who have Experienced Abuse

Event Description

Deadline to Register: December 7

It’s important for family law attorneys to understand what immigration relief may be available to your client upon dissolution, as a person’s legal status in the U.S. may change when the divorce is finalized. This is especially true when there has been domestic or sexual abuse within the relationship. This presentation will detail three immigration processes for family law attorneys to keep in mind: the VAWA Self Petition, the Application to Remove Conditions on your green card with the Abuse Waiver, and the Application for Employment Authorization for Certain Abused Nonimmigrant Spouses.

The Family Law Section membership will meet prior to the CLE at 9:30 a.m.
