Deadline to Register: October 6, 2015
Negotiation skills are some of the most important skills for a new lawyer to develop. But often lawyers view negotiation as just an event, where they can participate with whatever general advocacy skills they possess. The result is that such lawyers focus significant amounts of time on fact gathering, legal research, and client counseling, while neglecting consideration of how exactly to negotiate their client’s interests. This type of preparation results in a frustrating experience – both the lawyer and the client know their side of the story and what the law says, but they are unable to get what they want. In this CLE, attorney Draeke Weseman of Weseman Law Office, PLLC, will cover negotiation fundamentals for new lawyers, with an emphasis on preparation for negotiation through focus on negotiation skills.
The section membership will meet following the CLE at 5:30 pm.
