Event Description
Deadline to
Register is Wednesday, March 25, 2015 if you are attending remotely.
In person attendance can register in advance or at the
door. Don't forget your bag lunch!
Odds are good that if
you serve as an advisor for a nonprofit organization (as lawyer or board
member), you will run into a proposal to raise funds with a raffle, a casino or
bingo night, or other games of chance. This session is intended to help
you spot the legal issues connected to such activities and steer clear of
trouble by covering the basics: what charitable gambling is, who may do
it, how licensing works, when licensing is not required, how proceeds may be
used, who enforces the rules, and tax issues connected to charitable gambling
activities.
This is the second
presentation of 2015 for the Business Law Section’s Nonprofit Corporations
Committee brown bag lunch series. We will meet at the MSBA offices at Noon.
Bring your own lunch. Water and soft drinks will be provided.
