Giving an interesting, informative, persuasive Opening Statement is a vital step in a successful trial. Opening Statement is your chance to explain your theory the case, explain to the jury members what they can expect to hear, and begin to win votes for your client. This CLE suggests specific ways to help make your Opening Statement successful.
Lunch and registration will begin at 11:45 a.m. The program will run from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Doug Shrewsbury, Law Office of
Douglas R. Shrewsbury, LLC
For the past 36 years Doug Shrewsbury has
represented thousands of clients in litigated cases in Minnesota Courts. He has
tried over 100 cases to verdict in both civil and criminal actions. He has
represented both plaintiffs and defendants. In addition to his practice,
he spends considerable time teaching young lawyers trial technique and practice.
He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and an adjunct professor
in Trial Advocacy at University of Saint Thomas Law School. His practice
is currently focused on serving as a mediator, arbitrator, and neutral.
