Long-Term Care Insurance: Avoiding Problems and Managing Disputes

Event Description

UPDATE:  This program has been extended from 1.5 hours to 2.0 hours | 9:00 a.m - 11:00 a.m.

Deadline to Register: January 20, 2015

Equip yourself for guiding clients through long-term care (LTC) insurance issues. Benefits attorney Elizabeth Wrobel will share tips on reading policies, best practices in submitting claims, and primarily, how to best approach a coverage dispute when one arises. Ms. Wrobel will walk through two examples of long-term care (LTC) benefit disputes, discussing and reviewing relevant LTC insurance policy language and applicable state laws before providing suggested strategies for resolution. Often, a claims denial will appear facially reasonable even though it is contrary to policy language and the law.

The CLE will include insights from a financial professional who has dedicated her practice to providing long term care insurance to families for over 25 years.  Deb Newman will discuss the trends that are leading the long term care insurance industry.  She will identify client considerations and expectations when purchasing long term care insurance as well as various long term care insurance policies and the current solutions being offered, relating how most policies compensate for future changes in caregiving.  She will also review the tax advantages and estate planning implications of planning for care.

Registration and breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Breakfast buffet will include muffins, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, hashed browns, sweet rolls, coffee, tea, and orange juice.
