As
nonprofits organizations seek creative solutions to their fundraising needs,
attorneys who deal with nonprofit must have understanding of Unrelated Business
Income Tax (UBIT). Many desire to create social enterprises and on-going
operations geared to fund the organization’s programs. But forays
into the for-profit landscape to raise money, may create tax liability that
might be avoided.
This one-credit CLE will
explain:
• What UBIT
is
• How to properly avoid
UBIT
• Exceptions to
UBIT
• Imposition of tax and
deductions
• Some examples of
UBIT-related activities
This
is a brown-bag lunch. Water and
soft drinks will be provided.
