After the June 19, 2014 SCOTUS decision in Alice Corp. v. CLS Bank, can we give our clients better

guidance on their question:

Is my software patentable?

Members of the Intellectual Property Committee of the MSBA Computer and Technology Law Section will consider the precedent, the Court’s opinion, and its implications.

**This is a brown-bag session.  Feel free to bring your lunch with you.

Presenters:

James C. Evans is a patent lawyer and a partner with Beck & Tysver.  Chris is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, and earned a Ph.D. from Florida State University, where his research focused on supercomputer simulations of geophysical fluid dynamics processes.  His patent practice includes computer hardware and software, energy and environmental, simulations and modeling, and consumer and business electronics.

Allen J. Oh is a registered patent attorney with Condo Roccia Koptiw LLP, where he focuses his practice on patent procurement for electronic and computer-related inventions.



Dan Tysver
is a partner at Beck & Tysver, focusing primarily on the areas of computer hardware, software, and consumer electronics. He assists clients in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, as well as patent strategy, patent licensing, and the creation of patent invalidity and non-infringement opinions. Dan is a frequent lecturer and author on patent, copyright, trademark, and Internet legal issues. He received his undergraduate degree in physics from Carleton College, and his law degree from Harvard Law School.
