Introduction to Document Assembly

Event Description

Deadline to Register: Thursday, July 12, 2018

WEBINAR ONLY

Errors of omission. Errors of inclusion. And more. Many current approaches to legal document preparation leave much to be desired (and introduces unnecessary risk). Learn how tools like the MSBA's document assembly service, mndocs, offer a better method for drafting legal documents.

Many areas of legal practice involve the production of documents.  Even though the main value of your work may lie in the quality of your legal analysis of clients’ situations and your creativity in approaching them, one or more documents often memorialize the results of your work, or put your solutions into practice.  Your clients often take the quality of the documents as a proxy for the quality of your work.

But the production of new documents for new clients is subject to various errors, both by omission and inclusion, especially by methods involving re-use, copying, and search-and-replace.  Some might be only embarrassing; some might have more serious consequences.  Document assembly systems are designed to minimize the risks of errors and maximize the quality of your document.  They can help ensure that you have addressed all necessary issues, as checklists might, and allow you to avoid drafting errors inherent when you use "copy-and-paste".  Yet the end result remains customizable and editable.
