Presenters:
Brian Collins | MS | Minnesota Department of
Corrections
Brian Collins is the District
Supervisor for the Red Wing District of the Minnesota Department of Corrections’
Field Services Division. He is responsible for overseeing the adult felony
probation and supervised release activities in Goodhue, Wabasha, Le Sueur, and
Waseca counties. Prior to his appointment in December 2016, Brian oversaw the
Department’s Community Notification Unit where he developed a particular
interest in public policy related to predatory offenders, especially in the area
of residency restrictions. He also has experience as a Special Investigator in
the Office of Special Investigations at the Minnesota Sex Offender Program
(MSOP), as a probation and parole agent responsible for supervising adult sex
offenders, as a juvenile agent, and as a security counselor at the MSOP. Brian
is a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served honorably
in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Brian holds a Master’s Degree in
Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
Eric S. Janus | Professor of Law | Mitchell
Hamline School of Law
Eric Janus served as President and Dean of William
Mitchell College of Law from 2007-2015. Professor Janus’ scholarly focus
has been on constitutional and public policy considerations in the development
of so-called regulatory approaches to sexual violence prevention.
In
2017, he established the Sex Offense Litigation and Policy Resource Center at
Mitchell Hamline School of Law, funded by a grant from the Vital Projects
Fund. He serves at the Center’s Director in its efforts to provide support
for impact litigation and policy-reform work designed to produce constitutional,
effective, humane and empirically sound sex offense policies.

Gillen & Miller, P.A.
Bridget Nason is a Shareholder with LeVander,
Gillen & Miller, PA, where she practices in the area of municipal law. She
received her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago
in 2001 and her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law
School in 2005. In addition to her legal practice, Bridget is a member of the
Board of Directors of the West St. Paul-Mendota Heights Rotary Club, the Dakota
County Bar Association, and the Minnesota Women Lawyers’
Foundation.
