Adoption is an important tool in protecting the rights of
non-biological parents for LGBT couples and unmarried couples. John Buchholz
and Lindsay Flint will discuss the impact that marriage equality has had on
adoption practice and share their insights and practical advice on working with
LGBT families and with unmarried couples seeking to adopt. John and Lindsay will
discuss the mndocs document assembly system and share potential pitfalls and
adoption tips for completing adoptions for married LGBT couples and all
unmarried couples.
Presenters:
John Buchholz is a solo attorney practicing exclusively in
adoption, surrogacy, and estate planning, with a specific emphasis on family
building for LGBT couples and couples facing infertility. He earned his J.D.
from William Mitchell College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 2009.
J. Lindsay Flint is
currently the Director of Legal Services for Cancer Legal Care. Prior to this
position, her practice was focused on adoptions and estate planning for LGBT
families. Lindsay maintains a limited adoption practice with LGBT families. She
obtained her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and was admitted to the
bar in 1989.Michael
Trittipo, Attorney Editor, MSBA. Michael is an attorney editor with the
MSBA. He earned his J.D. cum laude in 1981, and practiced law for several years.
He currently maintains the MSBA's mndocs templates using the HotDocs
platform.
