Unmanaged stormwater can have devastating effects on the
water quality of quality lakes, streams and rivers. Through the Clean
Water Act, US EPA and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency have implemented a
stormwater discharge permit program for industrial and construction activities,
as well as municipal separate storm sewer systems. The continually
changing and evolving stormwater rules present many hurdles and traps for
regulated parties. This CLE will present an overview of the regulation of
stormwater runoff, including permits, compliance requirements and enforcement
actions.
