Event Description
Deadline
to Register: April
28, 2014
Whether
you are a prosecutor or defense counsel, new lawyer or old pro, private
practitioner or public defender, trial advocacy in the criminal world is often
the most exciting – and stressful – part of our practice. That makes sharpening
your trial advocacy skills a must for any successful criminal lawyer.
This
day-long trial school will cover the basics of successful courtroom advocacy
from both sides of the aisle through interactive sessions and audience
involvement. You will learn skills and strategies from some of the best in the
business that you can implement into your practice
immediately.
If
you practice criminal law in Minnesota, you cannot afford to miss this
session.
Topics to be covered include voir dire, opening, direct
examination, cross examination, forensics, jury instructions, closing arguments,
using technology at trial, a judge’s perspective, and an “ask the expert”
session where you can ask your questions and get answers from a panel of
experts.
The
Criminal Law Section will hold it's annual elections during the lunch
break. All members of the section are eligible to vote. A slate of
candidates will be available at the meeting. Additional nominations will
be taken from the floor.
