Legal Update: Commercial Use of Drones

Event Description

Deadline to Register: May 14, 2017

Schedule:

6:15 – 7:15 p.m.  CLE Program

Uses for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS, UAV or drones) abound. Drones can collect data crucial for precision farming and monitor herds on ranches. They can help assess the condition of transmission lines, structures, mining projects, and storm damage. They can handle costly and dangerous inspections, collect topographical data, and monitor stockpile inventories. But they also raise unique safety concerns and present novel privacy and intellectual property rights challenges. The Federal Aviation Administration, as well as numerous states and municipalities, is active in regulating commercial drone use.

Join a panel discussion on current and future drone use. The panel will provide tips on navigating the legal and regulatory hurdles presented by drones and will discuss the future of drone regulation under the Trump Administration.

Thad Lightfoot, Dorsey & Whitney LLP
Jamie Nafziger, Dorsey & Whitney LLP
Sean Harrington, Attorney Client Privilege LLC
