Please join us for a CLE sponsored by the Military & Veterans Affairs Section and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) 38 U.S.C. 4301 et. Seq.  Attorney Mathew Meyer will provide a detailed overview of the rights and obligations of both employers and their servicemember employees under USERRA, and discuss recent developments in how the Act and its regulations are interpreted and applied. What is the reemployment position under the “escalator” principle for a servicemember returning from a lengthy deployment? What are the employer’s obligations when reemploying a servicemember with a disability, such as PTSD? How are claims under USERRA handled? Please join us for the answers to these and many more questions about employer and servicemember rights under USERRA.

Presenter:
Mathew M. Meyer - Mathew is the Chair of the Military & Veterans Affairs Section and a volunteer Ombudsman with the ESGR (www.ESGR.mil). ESGR, a Department of Defense office, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component servicemembers and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. ESGR is supported by a network of more than 4,900 volunteers in 54 committees. As an ESGR Ombudsman, Mr. Meyer frequently mediates disputes between servicemembers and their civilian employers, and frequently lectures employers and servicemembers regarding their rights and obligations under USERRA.
