Join
us on Wednesday, September 18, for the Public Utilities Law Section’s Kick-Off
Meeting with the newly appointed Chief Administrative Law Judge, Tammy
Pust. She will provide an update of
what’s new at the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) and her perspective of
the challenges and opportunities, including its role in energy and
telecommunication issues.
Tammy
Pust was appointed as Chief Judge of the OAH on May 8, 2013. Chief Judge Pust is a seasoned lawyer
with over thirty years of legal experience in both the private and public
sectors. She began her career at
Best & Flanagan where she managed a litigation practice and served as
Assistant City Attorney for the City of Golden Valley. She later joined the Attorney General’s
Office doing legislative work on behalf of children and families under Skip
Humphrey. Ms. Pust then served as an Assistant Commissioner for the state
education agency in Governor Ventura’s administration. Following a four-year term, she became a
founding partner of Jesson & Pust, PA in St. Paul, where she practiced in
the area of employment and education law. She later moved her practice to Parker
Rosen where she continued to conduct neutral fact-finding investigations in the
employment context on behalf of the State of Minnesota, the Metropolitan
Council, and the MnSCU system.
Finding it too hard to stay away from public service, Ms. Pust rejoined
the Minnesota Department of Education as its Chief Legal and Compliance Officer,
where she advised the agency on legal matters until her appointment as Chief
Judge of the OAH. Ms. Pust
currently is President of the North Suburban Community Foundation, on the Board
of Directors for PACER and for Keystone Community Services, and serves on the
Second Judicial District Ethics Committee.
She served as the Chair of the Children and the Law Section of the MSBA
and recently completed her second term on the Roseville City
Council.
