Antitrust lawyers routinely deal with claims that prices have been set through anticompetitive means (price-fixing or predation, for example).  But how do businesses ordinarily (and lawfully) set prices?  Join us for the Antitrust Section’s 2016-17 kick-off program. Professor Akshay Rao will provide an entertaining and educational introduction to pricing strategies.  (No mathematics required or allowed!)  Combining his academic research with his business-world consulting experience, Prof. Rao will offer examples from the wide array of industries in which he has consulted from food and airlines to apparel and financial services. He will also offer insights from behavioral economics and other recent research into consumer decision-making.

Lunch will begin at 11:45 a.m., CLE program will start promptly  at 12:00 p.m.

To make this program as relevant as possible, Professor Rao would like to receive some audience questions in advance.  Prizes will be awarded for the best pre-submitted questions in three categories: Best In-House Counsel Question, Best Outside-Counsel Question, and Best Student/Other Question.  Submit your questions to Carol Peterson (
