Deadline to Register: May 30, 2016
Lawyers have an affirmative ethical duty to keep up with
current technology, including social media and its various uses. For lawyers,
navigating the various social media platforms can be daunting as we keep our
ethical duties to ourselves, our clients and the legal system in
mind. This CLE explores how lawyers can
and should use social media in their practice, including the use of social
media:
1) with in-house settings,
2) within law
firms,
3) in marketing to potential clients,
4) in forming
attorney-client relationships,
5) in communicating with clients, opposing
counsel and others,
6) in gathering information about clients or opposing
parties,
7) in discussing active controversies/cases, and
8) personal
online presence.
The Section will also hold their annual
meeting and elect new officers for 2016-17 during the first 10-15 minutes of the
meeting.
Lunch and registration will begin at 11:45 a.m. The program will begin at approximately 12:00 p.m.
