CJR. Never heard
of it? You're not alone. But the Comprehensive Care for Joint
Replacement bundled payment model is just one of the value-based programs the federal
government believes will revolutionize health care delivery and reimbursement.
The
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has set an aggressive goal of
tying 90% of all traditional Medicare payments to quality by 2018 through
alternative payment models and value-based payments. But HHS is equally
committed to this value-based ideology transcending Medicare, as it created the
Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network to intensify efforts to support
and encourage private payers, providers, employers, and states to adopt
alternative payment models that incentivize quality in health care
delivery.
This program will provide an overview of the CJR
model as a vehicle to understanding how HHS is implementing value-based
methodologies that will soon be ubiquitous in the healthcare industry. David
Glaser (Fredrikson & Byron) will analyze the CJR model with commentary from
Angela Eberhardt (Medica) on how bundled payments are arising in the commercial
space.
The Health
Law Section's Annual Meeting will be held at Noon followed immediately by
the CLE presentation from 12:15-1:15 p.m. As part of the annual meeting,
