Annual Report 2009-2010

Membership: The Section had 1,153 members this year.
Continuing Legal Education:
The section hosted or co-sponsored the following CLEs:

Pro Bono/Volunteer Service Activities:
-Wills For Heroes continues to be very successful with future events scheduled as far out as October of 2013 with 3,344 wills written to date. Our program is a model and leader in the Nation in the Wills for Heroes Program. Susan Link heads up this project in Minnesota and is the reason it has been so successful in Minnesota.
-Our section also offered seminars for the “Nine Days in June” but we were not scheduled to participate.
-Our Section is filing an Amicus brief on a matter before the court of appeals related to final orders.
-Our officers attended several receptions for the State Bar, e.g., new lawyers reception.
-The Section also presented an award for service provided by members of the Bar who have served 10 years or more on the Wills & Trusts Drafting Manual.
Website and practicelaw.org:
The Section continues to support the guardianship practicelaw.org forms matters as well as the real estate forms. Agendas and minutes continue to be published and other relevant documents are posted as needed.
After a few years of absence, the Newsletter has been published twice this year with several articles and section news including legislative updates. The section has actually received two new members who joined specifically because they want to receive the newsletter.
Council Meetings: Held the third Thursday of the month:
September, October, November, January, February, March, April (22nd), May and June (held June 8)
The annual meeting is held at the Annual Conference, June 7, 8 2010. At the meeting new council members and new officers were elected. The amendments to the bylaws were also approved. An award was presented to individuals who served on the Wills & Trusts Drafting Manual for 10 years or more.

The Section's MSBA Assembly representative for will be Mary Shearen.
The Section finished the year with $36,908.64 as of April 30, 2010.
The Section is in the process of reviewing a comprehensive overhaul of the Trust Code and potential adaptation of the Uniform Trust Act.
