"The Ethics of Legal Marketing on the Internet"

Internet marketing is on the rise, and lawyers are entering this new realm by leaps and bounds. But with this comes risk. What are the unique ethical considerations for lawyers in this era of electronic marketing? How will Minnesota's Rules of Professional Conduct address them?

Attorney Andrew Kinney and Digital Marketing Specialist James Bellefeuille will introduce you to burgeoning ethical issues in the digital marketplace and the unique challenges facing legal marketing.

Featured topics will include:

- Breach of confidentiality on the Internet
- Unqualified claims of expertise or specialty in web content
- Sponsoring false or misleading advertising campaigns
- Abusive backlinking practices
- Extremes in search engine optimization


Andrew Kinney, Hoglund, Chwialkowski & Mrozik, PLLC
Andrew Kinney is an attorney with Hoglund, Chwialkowski & Mrozik, PLLC (, a multi-state law firm based in Minnesota with an active Internet presence. He has practiced Social Security Disability Law for 20 years, and is a chair of the MSBA's Social Security Disability Law Section. A frequent legal speaker at local, regional, and national levels, he is currently engaging discussion on groundbreaking consumer protection legislation and ethical guidelines for Internet legal marketing in Minnesota.

James Bellefeuille  
James Bellefeuille is a Digital Marketing Strategist specializing in Internet marketing and strategy for attorneys. His professional history includes heading Internet marketing for one of Minnesota's largest Bankruptcy and Social Security law firms, Hoglund, Chwialkowski & Mrozik, PLLC. He also managed International Business Development at 3M for products in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and recruited Internet technology professionals at Electronic Systems Professionals. James is a University of St. Thomas alumnus with a passion for community service, including volunteering at the Rotary Club of Minneapolis. You can follow his blog at

Cancellation Policy:

Refunds will be processed for cancellation requests received in writing on or before noon on the registration deadline. You may send a colleague in your place if you are unable to join us and the registration deadline has passed.
