What is the New Lawyers Section?

The MSBA New Lawyers Section is comprised of attorneys who were admitted to practice within the past six years or who are less than 36 years of age. The Section's efforts focus on professional development, community outreach and networking.

Mission

To represent and promote involvement of new lawyers in the MSBA through organizational, educational, and networking opportunities.

Goals

To expand and increase the membership, participation, and communication of new lawyers in the New Lawyers Section; to develop additional New Lawyers Section affiliates in outstate areas and encourage more statewide participation; and to develop and effectuate specific, substantial benefits to New Lawyers Section members, including development of a referral network/directory offering assistance with career opportunities, and improving the New Lawyers section website and list serve.

Benefits

Benefits from active participation in the New Lawyers Section include:

* Professional development through networking and socializing with other lawyers;
* Opportunities to represent the Section at national law conferences;
* Participation in the leadership of the Bar and influence the direction of the profession; and
* Contribute to the legal profession and the community through MSBA community outreach projects.
