Dealing with Displacement

This innovative program will use two short stories to facilitate discussion of ethnic and racial bias, prejudice and insensitivity in the legal profession. We will examine some of the ways in which the norms, values and experience of non-Caucasians affect their view of the fairness of our legal system, and we will consider the impact of our own misconceptions and stereotypes. There will also be opportunities for participants to discuss their observations and experience handling immigration cases. The program is designed to prompt self-reflective learning through interaction with your peers. Participants prepare for the program by reading the stories, which will be mailed to registrants prior to the session.
