"Children with Special Needs and Divorce"

The Wall Street Journal reported in November 2008 that divorce rates of couples raising a child with a disability are even higher than the national average. This seminar will discuss the issues family law attorneys must address when a child of divorcing parents has special needs: child support, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medical Assistance (MA), supplemental and special needs trusts, and structuring the divorce or parenting agreement.

Laurie Hanson, Shareholder at Long, Reher & Hanson, P.A.
Ms. Hanson concentrates her practice exclusively in the areas of disability planning, particularly government benefits eligibility; special needs, supplemental needs, and pooled trusts; planning for incapacity; probate; trust litigation; and surrogate decision-making.
