The MSBA's Environmental, Natural Resources and Energy Law Section Annual Meeting & CLE
"Minnesota's Recent Streamlining Legislation: Changes to the Environmental Review and Permitting"
Governor Mark Dayton recently signed into law HF 1 which changes Minnesota's process for completing environmental review and permitting of major projects. This legislation was a high priority of both the Minnesota legislature and the business community as part of an agenda to attract and retain businesses in Minnesota. Environmental groups have characterized the legislation as "the chicken guarding the henhouse" or that it "rolls back" environmental protections currently in law. We have gathered a panel of experienced practitioners who will describe the legislation, discuss its perceived benefits and drawbacks, and address how it will change the nuts and bolts of environmental review and permitting process in Minnesota.
