"The Practical Aspects of Environmental Review"

Through the Minnesota Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) and Environmental Quality Board the rules, Minnesota has a unique framework for conducting the environmental review of new projects. The nature, size and location of a proposed project determines whether environmental review is required or desired, and can take the form of a more limited environmental assessment worksheet (EAW) or a full blown environmental impact statement (EIS). Projects such as feedlots, transmission lines, mining operations, pipelines and other industrial and commercial activities may be subject to environmental review.

Please join us for a panel of experienced practitioners and consultants who will look at the practical aspects of environmental review. We will examine issues such as: when is environmental review required; what level of time, resource and expertise is required to perform an EAW or and EIS; and what are the common pitfalls and shortcomings of environmental review efforts.

Panelists:

Jeremy Greenhouse, Attorney at The Environmental Law Group

Peter Miller, Principal at Wenck Associates, Inc.

Daniel Sola, Principal hydrogeologist, URS Corporation
