"New Law Update – Changes to Minnesota’s Statutory Short Form Power of Attorney"

New law makes changes to Minnesota’s Statutory Short Form Power of Attorney (Minn. Stat. Chapter 523). The law affects the Power of Attorney form as well as the underlying law. Most of these changes will be effective on January 1, 2014. This one-hour free webcast will explain the history of this new law which originated with the Vulnerable Adult Justice Project (VAJP) and walk through the changes. The presenters are two estate planning and elder law practitioners who sat on the VAJP committee responsible for the initial draft of the bill.

Laura Garbe joined Erickson & Associates, P.A. in 2006 and practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, guardianship and conservatorship and medical assistance planning. Laura works closely with clients to draft documents to plan for incapacity, medical assistance planning, Wills & Trust and Guardianship/Conservatorship. Laura received her undergraduate degree from the University of St. Catherine and her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law.

Jill A. Adkins, J.D., LL.M. is associated with the Henningson & Snoxell Ltd law firm in Maple Grove. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1988 and her career has concentrated on estate planning, elder law, guardianships and conservatorships, long-term care planning, probates and planning for incapacity.
