The MSBA's Computer and Technology Law Section Presents:
"Protecting Your Trademarks in the Domain Name Big Bang"
As the universe of internet domain names explodes from the current 22 generic top level domain names (gTLDs) to include over 1,400 new extensions, brand owners face multiple challenges and opportunities, including using a “Trademark Clearinghouse” slated to open in October.
This session will explore:
• “digital archery” and other unpredictable and occasionally humorous highlights of the application process;
• how brand owners can use the Clearinghouse to help protect their brands;
• some of the most hotly-contested and most promising gTLDs;
• internationalized (non-Latin script) gTLDs that will interest those with international operations or customers; and
• available dispute mechanisms both for gTLDs and for second-level domain names.
Come hear from attorneys who represent multiple new gTLD applicants on the latest developments in this rapidly expanding universe (no particle physics background required).
