The MSBA's Computer and Technology Law Section Presents:
"The Evolving Landscape of Data Security, Privacy, and Government Regulation"
Joshua Carlson will host a roundtable discussion related to the current challenges to businesses and law firms related to the proliferation of technology available and the problems with keeping up with technology while also maintaining compliance with evolving state, federal and contractual obligations. He will cover challenges of mobile phone technologies, Twitter and Facebook FTC consent decrees, and what that means to an organization, recent local privacy breach issues in the news, and where computers and technology are headed that will challenge lawyers who work in this area.
This shall be a collaborative session. Questions, issues, and discussions will be encouraged, as most companies and governmental entities are all working from an evolving landscape.
Joshua Carlson, Esq. has been working in technology for the past 15 years, beginning after graduating from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management program, then, aftergraduating from William Mitchell College of Law he further focused on computer and information security law, information privacy law, and technology (data) compliance. Mr. Carlson also represents clients in consumer law cases related to deceptive trade practices, consumer fraud, and false advertising and has brought many actions against large multinational organizations for it.
Mr. Carlson received his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law where he sat on the student board of governors, and holds expert certifications in Computer Information Systems Security (CISSP), Information Privacy (CIPP /G), and data forensics.
