As of June 15, 2011, the Children & the Law Section has 153 members. This accounts for an 11% increase in membership since July 1, 2010.

Legislation and Amicus Briefs
The Children & the Law Section did not submit any legislative proposals for MSBA consideration in 2010-11 and did not take any Section-only legislative positions. Likewise, the Section did not submit any amicus briefs this year.
The Section did sponsor a legislative preview CLE and breakfast with a group of Minnesota legislators in an effort to provide timely updates about potential and existing changes in the area of child law.
Annual Meeting and Election Results
The Children & the Law Section annual meeting and elections were held on May 12, 2011, at noon at the Minnesota State Bar Association offices. In addition to a brief business meeting, the event included a CLE program about the civil implications of cyberbullying.

Other Section Accomplishments
The Section awarded two Justice Blatz Child Advocate Awards in September 2010 at the inaugural “State of the Child Summit.”
The Section continues to investigate Child Law Certification through NACC.
