The MSBA's Animal Law Section Presents
"The Animal Humane Society and Kindest Cut: Legal Implications and Requirements of Offering Veterinary Services in MN"
This CLE will involve a discussion of the Animal Humane Society’s initiative to establish a mobile veterinary surgery unit, Kindest Cut, to provide high quality, low cost spay and neuter surgeries in Minnesota. The discussion will involve an analysis of funding and other issues relating to the partnership of two non-profit entities. Operational concerns such as state, county and city permitting and licensing of Kindest Cut’s mobile surgery unit as well contracts for parking the mobile surgery unit in different locations around the Twin Cities will be discussed. Finally, this CLE will detail the legal issues affecting the veterinary staff such as medical licensing, the ethical issues involved when balancing the medical oath with animal owners’ choices, and liability for medical procedures.
