The MSBA's Administrative Law Section Annual Meeting
"Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Office of the Inspector General: Who is the OIG? Why was it created? What does this mean for you?"
The Office of Inspector General was created by Minnesota Department of Human Services Commissioner Lucinda Jesson in the Fall of 2011 and Jerry Kerber was appointed as the first Inspector General in October. The DHS OIG is charged with increasing program integrity throughout DHS administered programs including healthcare, childcare and food/cash eligibility and enrollment. The OIG intends to improve the detection, prosecution, recovery and ultimately the prevention of future fraud and abuse in publically funded programs.
This program will provide an opportunity to learn about the new OIG, the scope of its duties, and its importance to administrative law attorneys.
