Lakeville North is Mock Trial Champion
Lakeville North High School emerged as champion of this year’s Minnesota High School Mock Trial competition, defeating White Bear Lake North in a trial March 12 at the Ramsey County Courthouse. Tenth District Judge James Dehn presided.
Over 135 high school teams, comprising some 1,500 students and coached by over 600 volunteer attorneys and 100 volunteer teachers, worked over five months preparing and competing in mock trials leading up to the championship in St. Paul.
The MSBA took on the mock trial program beginning in 1984. Although few schools participated initially, the state champion in that first year, Cloquet High School, went on to take second place at the national championships.
This year’s winners from Lakeville North High School will represent Minnesota at the national championships in Wilmington, Delaware in May. |
