Diversity and Inclusion
While our small section did not include any explicit diversity goals in its work plan, we have elevated members of underrepresented groups to leadership positions in our section, and have encouraged them to be presenters at our CLEs.

Tony Mendoza also attended the MSBA Diversity and Inclusion CLE in November.

Other Section Accomplishments
We set a goal of presenting 7 CLE events this year.  We presented 8.

We also set a goal of holding our annual meeting, half-day CLE, and officer election in May rather than June.  We did this, but the Council should discuss whether this was a good idea, as attendance at this year’s annual form was lower than past years.

We set a goal to increase section sponsorship by 2% this year.  We started the year with 85 members (according to 7/26/17 Section profile) and ended with 92 members, which constitutes 8% growth.

We set a goal of supporting public service projects.  We made two donations to charitable organizations relevant to our industry this year.  We made a donation of $500 to PCs for People, and another donation of $500 to the Beck Fellowship Program, an internship program of the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH).  We also held a panel to kick the year off entitled, “Careers in Communications Law” in which communications law practitioners (current and former) spoke to law students about their careers in communications law.
