Who We Are | Our Mission
To advance and promote the field of conflict management and dispute resolution, and to improve the practice, elevate the standards, and educate practitioners, the bench and the public regarding ADR in Minnesota. The ADR Section has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. The ADR Section has the following goals: to provide programming for monthly lunch meetings; establish relationships with other MSBA sections whose members use ADR services; maintain and promote a web directory of section members; participate actively in the ADR Institute; provide education to other members of the MSBA and the public regarding the benefits of using ADR; provide commentary and collaborate with other groups on legislative and ethical issues; publicize and educate regarding key developments and opportunities in ADR.
What We Do | Section Benefits and Activities
With over 300 members, the ADR Section is a large and active section of the MSBA.
- Attend FREE informative monthly 12 noon hour CLE’s (9 CLE hours annually to ADR Section members at zero cost) with the convenience of in-person or remote participation; beverages and light refreshments are provided for those in-person but you are welcome to bring your own lunch;
- Networking opportunities at section meetings and CLE programs for both new and experienced ADR professionals;
- Subscribe to the ADR Section “Community” listserv to connect with other MSBA ADR Neutrals; participate online in ADR-related discussion topics throughout MN and receive updates through the ADR Community platform;
- Receive announcements and training notices about upcoming ADR-related events in Minnesota;
- Have a state-wide impact through the ADR Section Grant Program, which awards up to $5,000 to nonprofit Minnesota organizations focused on dispute resolution. Click here to learn about the ADR Grant Program.
Section-Only Membership Category
You do not have to be an attorney to join this section! A member of the public who is not eligible for MSBA membership and who works in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution is welcome to join the section as a section-only member. Because the State of Minnesota does not require qualified neutrals to also be attorneys, this departure is significant in that it encourages all neutrals in the State of Minnesota to participate actively in the Section.
